APPLICATION FOR POSITION OF A MEMBER OF BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF STAMIGOLD COMPANY LIMITED
1.0 BACKGROUND
The State Mining Corporation (STAMICO) is a state owned enterprise which was established in 1972 with the objective of developing mining industry.
Following changes in the economic policies of the earlier 1990’s in favour of private sector led mining industry development STAMICO and its subsidiaries were privatized and others were liquidated. The Government reversed the decision to close down STAMICO through Government Notice No. 88 of 2009, after lessons learned in the performance of the private sector led mining industry development and the need as per Mining Act, 2010 that Government to have free carried or purchased interest in large scale mines.
In that regard, STAMICO’s new responsibilities is to oversee Government interests in large scale mines, invest in the mining sector through mineral prospecting, development and operate mines, mineral trading, value addition, providing services in management of mines, drilling, consultant services to small scale mining and other related business.
In order for STAMICO to implement its new responsibilities and roles it has incorporated a subsidiary company to be known as STAMIGOLD Company Limited to be wholly owned by STAMICO.
2.0 STAMIGOLD COMPANY LIMITED
STAMIGOLD Company Limited has been incorporated with the objective of operationalising
Tulawaka Mine as profit making undertaking. Additionally, the company will undertake exploration work on licences surrounding the mine area with a view of exploiting the economically viable deposits.
3.0 INVITATION FOR APPLICATION
Following incorporation of STAMIGOLD Company Limited and acquisition of Tulawaka Gold Mine, STAMICO invites Tanzanians with relevant qualifications as spelt out herein to apply for appointment to fill a vacancy of Board Member of STAMIGOLD.
4.0 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A person seeking appointment of the Board member should have the following minimum qualifications.
(a) Be a graduate of reputable University;
(b) Have at least ten (10) years experience in one or more of the fields of mining logistics, procurement on related fields;
(c) Have knowledge of mining industry;
(d) Is willing to serve as member of the STAMIGOLD Board; and
(e) Is, in the opinion of the STAMICO Board, otherwise suitable to perform the functions and duties of a member competently and honestly.
5.0 MODE OF APPLICATION
Qualified and interested candidates are requested to apply describing how they consider that they qualify. All Applications should be attached with certified copies of relevant certificates, curriculum vitae (CV), one current passport size photograph, names and contact details of three work related referees including telephone numbers and e-mail address. The application should be received not later than 27th December, 2013 15.30 hours
