Description:
The Foundation for Civil Society is an independent Tanzanian organization whose vision is to have a Tanzania where citizens realize their rights and contribute to poverty reduction and engage in change processes that enhance their quality of life. The Foundation is inviting applications from qualified, dynamic and motivated Tanzanians to fill the following vacant positions in its offices in Dar es Salaam. These positions offer an excellent opportunity to work with and learn from civil society organizations from all over the country
Qualification:
Desired skills, knowledge and qualifications
• University Degree in B.Com /Advanced Diploma majoring in Accounting from a recognized higher learning institution.
• At least two years experience in reputable grant making organizations or donor funded projects in a similar position will be an added advantage.
• Experience in using accounting packages
Ability to use Pastel accounting package shall be an added advantage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, especially MS Excel Spreadsheets and Word.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments.
Key responsibilities
• Prepare payment vouchers
• Maintain cash books
• Perform bank reconciliations
• Perform daily banking duties
• Process accounting data into accounting software
• Maintain suppliers and debtors schedules
• Account for funds from donors timely
• Maintain fixed assets register
• Maintain staff expense reports register
• Assist to track grantees payments and refunds
• Assist in the preparation and submission of statutory remittances
• Maintain proper filing of accounting documents
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor
